For buying and selling property in Les Champs Géraux
Les Champs Géraux is a charming small village that lies in the pretty countryside of the Brice Valley, in the north-western corner of France. The village is traversed by the River Rance, and is also close to the mediaeval town of Dinan, one of Brittany's best loved attractions. Les Champs Géraux is the perfect place to go to escape from the hectic life of modern Britain.
The village is tranquil and unspoiled, but has a good community spirit and offers several amenities which include a school, a couple of community halls, a Saturday library, a bowling alley and a bar/tabac/restaurant. Various social and sporting societies also operate in Les Champs Géraux. Further facilities are found easily in the surrounding towns, with a large choice of shops and restaurants in Dinan, which is about a ten-minute drive away.
The River Rance passes through the village on its way to the river port of Dinan, and makes a very pretty centrepiece to the village. The bridge, interestingly named the Pont aux Chats, or to translate, the Bridge of Cats, is another attractive feature.
If you have some leisure time to spend from a base in Les Champs Géraux you can take a minute more to congratulate yourself on having chosen a sublime location from which to enjoy the very best of the Côtes-d'Armor. Near neighbours of the village include the pretty village of Léhon, a little further along the riverside, and of course, the illustrious Dinan, one of the most celebrated towns in Brittany.
Of course you will want to explore a little further afield too, if time allows, so you should add to your list of places to visit the port town and seaside resort of St Malo, the incredible island town of Mont St Michel and the main Breton cities of St Brieuc and Rennes.
Among the joys of life in Brittany are the coast and countryside, and there are many ways to enjoy these. Sporting and leisure activities near Les Champs Géraux are walking, cycling, horse-riding, fishing, swimming, sailing, golf and tennis, with plenty more to find if nothing in that list appeals!
The nearest airport is that of Dinard, though Rennes is also within easy reach. Dinard is served by Ryanair and Aurigny, while Rennes is served by Flybe. Meanwhile the best ferry port to head for if you want to sail is St Malo. Road travellers will find Les Champs Géraux on the D29 between the N176 and the N2137, which are both non toll motorways.
Property in this village represents a considerable saving compared with that in Dinan itself, while still being just ten minutes down the road. Prices for very attractive properties in and near to the village currently (December 2011) begin at under 100,000 Euros.
