Vermenton - in the winelands of Burgundy
Vermenton is a small but lively town that is located in the heart of Burgundy's famous winelands, in the Yonne department. Its name means "country of the beautiful hills", and it doesn't take a visitor to the town long to discover why this name was given. The countryside is peaceful and indeed, very beautiful, and provides a perfect backdrop to this pretty little town.

Canal port
Vermenton owes much of its appeal to its situation beside the lovely Canal Nivernais. There is a canal port in Vermenton, and this can be a lively and colourful spot in summer time when the tourist boats moor up and holiday makers come ashore to do their shopping and to dine in the excellent little restaurants that can be found in the town.
