For buying and selling property in Longué Jumelles
The town of Longué Jumelles, which is located in the Pays de la Loire region in the west of the country in the department of Maine-et-Loire, is truly a little piece of classic France. A mid-sized town, Longué Jumelles is possessed of a cool elegance and sits in equally elegant and classical landscapes, with rivers, green pastures, ordered vineyards and great chateaux, creating a vision of France straight from your childhood dreams.
The town supplies everything you could ever need... well, in as much as any town can do! There is a large selection of shops, including all the usual suspects such as the perennially inviting boulangeries, patisseries, chocolateries, épiceries and wine caves as well as the more prosaic but useful supermarkets and service industries.
Eating and drinking are always a great pleasure in France, and in this town and this region you will find yourself truly spoilt. There are some good restaurants in and around the town of Longué Jumelles, and on the menu are likely to be at least some dishes containing the delicious mushrooms that come from this part of France, which is the major fungi supplier in the country! To wash it all down, the best choice is one of the delightful sparkling wines from the region, which are said to rival champagne in quality and are certainly more appealing in price!
There's a lot to see and do around and about Longué Jumelles. The Maine et Loire is a very beautiful department, sometimes called the Garden Of France, and just driving through the beautiful countryside is a pleasure in itself. Horse lovers should make the trip... almost a pilgrimage... to Saumur, where you can see the very best of classical riding at the French Centre of Equitation. The cities of Angers and Nantes are awaiting a visit, as is the Atlantic coast and the popular holiday department of the Vendée. Travel north and you can take in the motor racing at Le Mans, or east to Tours and the fascinating Touraine.
As ever in France, sport is important, and whatever your particular pursuit you are almost bound to find it in the locality. The lakes and rivers allow for boating, fishing and swimming, the countryside begs to be explored on horseback, cycle or foot, and there are plenty of tennis courts and golf courses to be found near Longué Jumelles too.
If you want to fly from the UK, you can choose to fly into Tours, Angers or Nantes, which is slightly further away. Tours is served by Ryanair; Angers by Eastern Airways; and Nantes by Ryanair and Aer Arann. The train is also a great choice, as you can take Eurostar to Paris then link to a TGV for Nantes, Saumur, Angers or Le Mans. If driving, you will find Longué Jumelles close to the A85/E60.
Longué Jumelles lies in an area that was not perhaps the best known to the foreign property market, but one which is now steadily increasing in popularity. (The French have always known it was a good place to live, the Brits were a little slower but are definitely getting there!) Property prices in Longué Jumelles are steady, and as property is not, in general, overpriced here, there are some good bargains and investment opportunities to be had even in an uncertain financial time.
