A great location
Mirambeau is a lively little market town in a fantastic location, as it lies in the west of France close to the coast, in the Charente-Maritime department. Here the countryside is beautiful and distinctive. The landscape is fairly flat, and in season you will find hectares of tall golden sunflowers stretching as far as the eye can see, and neat vineyards heavy with their crop of grapes ready to be turned into pineau or cognac, both of which are famous and delicious drinks from this region.

Don’t sleep in on Saturdays!
Mirambeau has loads to offer. The Saturday morning market is a delight, and if it is the genuine French lifestyle that you are seeking then you really should make the effort to get out of bed early on a Saturday morning and get along to the market. Here you will find stalls full of fresh locally produced fruit and vegetables, charcuterie, cheeses, wines, waxed tablecloths and even the latest in fashionable clothes… and you can buy a pretty French basket to carry home your purchases in the time honoured fashion! The market does continue all morning, but if you are wise you will take a tip from the locals and be there early to catch the best of the goods on offer.
