Pretty riverside town
La Rochefoucauld lies in the west of France, in the department of the Charente. It is a pretty riverside market town, situated on the banks of the Tardoire River. Saturday is market day
Like many small towns in rural France, La Rochefoucauld comes alive on market day, which in this instance is Saturday. Here, the produce from nearby farms is on display, the townspeople turning out in force to buy the very best from the stallholders. The market is a lively and colourful affair, and it is well worth getting out of bed on Saturday morning to enjoy the sights, sounds and delicious smells!

It is possible to fly to nearby airports Poitiers or Limoges from the UK with budget airline Ryanair. Rail travel is another practical option as there is a TGV line into the town of Angoulême, close to La Rochefoucauld.
