Mandelieu la Napoule - totally Riviera
The town of Mandelieu la Napoule is a beautiful town that is located on the French Riviera, on the Mediterranean coast in the far south-east of the country. Affluent and attractive the town is particularly noted for its chateau, and is also a very popular destination for all lovers of water sports. Mandelieu la Napoule is typically "Riviera", and lies close to the glitzy film capital of Cannes.

A cultural chateau
The Château of La Napoule is not just an amazing historical monument, it is a real centre for culture. It was lovingly renovated (and some would say, flamboyantly) by a wealthy American couple, Henry and Marie Clews, in the 20th century. They lived their lives in the castle, and since their deaths it has become a great cultural centre with art exhibitions, and other festivals and events.

Town of two parts
Mandelieu la Napoule is, as perhaps is hinted at by its name, a town of essentially two parts. Mandelieu is the more modern sector, which has a wonderful collection of shops, restaurants, bars and services. La Napoule is more of a village at heart, with smaller local style shops and a handful of cosy bars and bistros. If seafood is your passion, and you are in an excellent place if it is, the port area is the part of town to head for, where all the freshly caught fish and shellfish are on offer in the very atmospheric restaurants. There's even a restaurant with two Michelin stars, should your tastes run to fine dining.

Out and about
The Riviera is so famous, and its myriad delights so well documented it hardly needs an introduction here. Visit Cannes, but be prepared for it to be extremely busy to the point of inaccessible for the duration of the film festival! If you do go into the town then, though, you are bound to leave with stars in your eyes! Nice is a wonderful old city, and the shopping is second to none. Monaco is within easy reach, so if you have a yearning to see the high side of life then Mandelieu la Napoule is certainly the place for you.

Sea sports anyone?
Mandelieu la Napoule is known for its water sports, so it is ideal for sailors, water skiers, speed boat fans, jet skiers, swimmers, scuba divers and all those who just enjoy messing about on the sea... with a lot of style. Of course there are plenty of activities for landlubbers too, with tennis, superb golf courses, pony trekking and boules all to hand.

How to get there
The French Riviera has long been popular with holiday makers from the UK, so there is no problem in accessing Mandelieu la Napoule. Fly to Nice with bmibaby, British Airways, easyJet, bmi, Jet2, flybe, Air France or Aer Lingus. If you enjoy train travel you could take Eurostar to Paris and then jump onto a super fast TGV and arrive in Nice only a few relaxing hours later. Drivers, look for the A8 auto route, as the town lies very close to this.

Property prices and availability in and around Mandelieu la Napoule
It's the Med... and what's more, it's the Riviera. It isn't cheap, but then you wouldn't expect such a prime location to be cheap. There are many prestige properties on the market here, but there will always be a strong rental market for these too.
