The town has a plethora of man made entertainments to offer, but you can't miss the fact that it is surrounded by an area of truly fabulous natural beauty. St Julien lies on the Rhône River and is close to the Jura, Salève and Vuache Mountains. These are protected areas of huge natural importance, and are wonderful in any season for those who enjoy walking, cycling and simply discovering the flora and fauna of the mountains. Following the trails here will afford you the opportunity to see wild deer, and some very rare birds of prey.

St Julien has a great selection of sporting opportunities. The town has access to some excellent skiing and mountaineering, with professionals on hand to help you get to grips with both of these exciting sports. Gentler pleasures include cycling, walking and fishing, and there is plenty to do in any season.

How to get there
The nearest airport is located at Geneva, just over the border into Switzerland. You can fly to Geneva with British Airways, Aer Lingus, easyJet, flybe or Jet2. Alternatively, Chambery has flights with flybe and Jet2. Rail travel will take you to Paris or Lille on Eurostar, then to either Lyon or Bourg St Maurice by TGV.
