For buying and selling property in La Rosière
The ski resort of La Rosière, which is located in the Savoie department of the French Alps, is a designated "Famille plus Montagne" resort, priding itself on its family friendly attitudes and facilities. La Rosière is also a south facing village sited on a plateau, and therefore receives a blissful amount of sunshine, unlike many ski resorts which lie in the bottom of the valleys and spend much of the day in the shade cast by the surrounding mountains. Surrounded by breathtaking scenery, it has an excellent snow record too.
The ski resort has been sympathetically designed to gel with the traditional architecture and atmosphere of the Savoie, giving an authentic and attractive look. La Rosière is very well equipped and offers everything you need for enjoyable holidays and everyday life. Apart from the ski shops and hire shops (of which there are many) you can find plenty of shops offering food, wine, clothing and gifts. The village has a good selection of bars and restaurants, for that all important aprés ski, with families welcomed, and there is plenty to do for all ages.
The skiing is really exceptional, and the season is long thanks to the excellent snow record. All levels are catered for, and there is no shortage of lifts to take you to the tops of the pistes. An interesting possibility of heli skiing opens up here, across the border in Italy, so expert skiers and thrill seekers can try this exciting sport.
The proximity of Italy is interesting for more than just heli skiing, as it allows you to combine the ski facilities of La Thuile with those of La Rosière, while providing a cross over of cultures, cuisines, languages and attitudes.
There are many other sports to try in the area. Dog sledding, ice climbing, and snow shoeing in winter are all found within easy reach of the resort, while in summer you can walk, rock climb, pony trek or mountain bike. The towering Mont Blanc is right beside the resort, and off piste ski adventures for expert skiers are possible here.
The airports to use to get you to La Rosière are Lyon, Chambéry or Geneva. Train travel can bring you to neighbouring Bourg St Maurice from the UK, on Eurostar's "ski special", while drivers will find the town from the N90 and D1090.
Popular resorts in the Alps come at price, and this is indeed the case with La Rosière, whose location and excellent snow record tends to keep property prices pretty high. Property types are often traditionally styled but relatively modern chalets, with small studios or apartments within these being the cheapest way to bag yourself a little piece of prime Alpine ski property.
