La Tania (or La Tagna) - purpose built
The ski town of La Tania was purpose built to very high architectural standards in 1990, ready for the 1992 winter Olympic Games. La Tania lies in a very pretty part of the Savoie, near the top ski resort of Chamonix, and has access to good skiing as well as summer activities.

In a forest of Christmas trees
What could be prettier than a ski resort beside a Christmas tree forest? The landscapes around La Tania are lovely and typically alpine, and provide a beautiful backdrop to the resort. And although for some, part of La Tania's appeal is that it is close to Chamonix and other top resorts, the little town is perfectly self-contained and offers good amenities for all the family. There are general shops, ski hire facilities, bakers, newsagents, a supermarket, a post office and a tourist office to help you to make the most of everything the town and the locality has to offer.

Family friendly... but lots of après ski too
La Tania is said to be a small and friendly family resort, and no one who has spent any time here would argue with this assertion. However, it is also worth noting that if your party includes older kids or simply adults who enjoy a little après ski, there is plenty of this to go around too. The town has a number of bars and restaurants and there is a good party vibe in the late evenings with live music and dancing to keep you partying until dawn.

And on the slopes...
The resort offers great skiing with excellent links to the Three Valleys ski area. Closer to home, within the resort itself, La Tania is ideal for beginners, with a free drag lift and a superbly easy slope for learning the sport, so those with little or no experience can enjoy themselves without feeling too daunted.

Summer in La Tania
Summer in the mountains is every bit as beautiful as winter, and once the snows have melted there is still plenty to do and see around La Tania. The ski lifts remain open so that walkers can easily reach the higher peaks, and in the town are tennis courts, a swimming pool, and various other activities and entertainment. The ski hire shops offer mountain bike hire in the summer, and if you have the "legs" for it, this is a wonderful area for the sport. Other possibilities include white water sports, paragliding, fishing, quad biking and even paint balling!
