Collinée - a lively, well equipped village

Collinée is an attractive village of around 1,000 souls, which is found in the glorious green countryside of the Côtes d'Armor department in northern Brittany. Perfectly located for both holidays and long term living, Collinée is easily accessed by air, boat or road from the UK, and is within easy reach of all the attractions of the region. Although Collinée can hardly be described as a town, it is a well equipped and lively village which retains an authentic Breton feel.

Life in Collinée

Collinée has a thriving community, and offers all the amenities you are likely to need for daily life. Within the village you can find a bank, local shops (including the obligatory boulangerie for those iconic baguettes and pastries so necessary for full enjoyment of life in France!), a post office, a library, a church, a village school and bars for relaxation and socialising. Should you seek access to big supermarkets and more facilities there are a number of larger towns which offer these, just a short drive away, as well as a local market every Thursday.

Out and about

Anyone who knows Brittany knows that this is one of France's best loved regions, and the Côtes d'Armor in particular is perennially popular for its myriad attractions. Collinée is close to the picture perfect mediaeval town of Dinan, where time seems to have stopped as you walk the narrow, twisting streets of the old walled town, and also to picturesque Montcour with its delightful half-timbered houses.

Enjoy an active lifestyle close to the seaside and lakes

The seaside is reached within half an hour by car, and here you can take your pick of beautiful beaches and fun-filled resorts. The area also boasts lovely lakes, some with beaches for sunbathing and picnicking, some with water sports on offer and almost all surrounded by lovely walking trails where you can enjoy the tranquillity and fresh air of this unspoilt region. Lake Bosmeleac is 30 kilometres away, with a man-made beach and boating, fishing and swimming on offer.

Other sports on offer

Golf addicts will find various options when it comes to choosing a course to tackle, and there are plenty of other sporting opportunities too, with horse-riding, cycling, tennis and swimming available close to Collinée.

How to get there

The nearest airport that has direct flights from the UK is Dinard, and the bonus is that budget airline Ryanair flies there (as well as Aurigny), keeping costs down so you can make frequent trips. Rennes is also not too far away, which is served by Flybe. The ferries run from England and Ireland to all over France's northern coastline, and all are within a reasonable distance for comfortable access. The nearest port, if you don't want to drive too far when you get off the boat is St Malo. The N12 and N164 are the closest major roads to Collinée, with the town being accessed from the N792.

Property prices and availability in and around Collinée

The Côtes d'Armor can be one of Brittany's more expensive departments, but if you need to keep to a tight budget, small inland towns and villages such as Collinée offer some good properties at very reasonable prices.
