For buying and selling property in Léhon
Léhon, which lies close to the popular mediaeval town of Dinan, is what the French refer to as a "little city of character". This title can be misleading, in that Léhon is really more of a village than what we British would think of as a city, but the character part of the description is certainly apt. Léhon is picturesque and ultra charming, with its pretty houses displaying many period features, its riverside setting, its floral displays, not to mention its abbey and castle.
The two most important monuments in Léhon are the abbey (9th century and beautifully preserved) and its castle, which was built in the 12th century in typical Norman style and which has been painstakingly restored. Further heritage to be seen around the village includes a mediaeval stone bridge, decorative features on many houses and original streets and buildings.
Life in Léhon is a pretty peaceful affair, and the village sees far less tourist traffic than neighbouring Dinan, making it a good retreat for those wishing to escape the crowds. If you want to go shopping you will need to make the trip (all three kilometres of it) to Dinan, but Léhon does have a great little boulangerie for those delicious breads and pastries so essential to French life. There is also a very pleasant bar/restaurant in the village.
Sports and leisure activities available locally include swimming (Léhon has a great pool), sailing, fishing, horse-riding, walking, cycling and tennis. Golf courses can also be accessed.
The Côtes-d'Armor is arguably Brittany's best loved department, and has much to offer to keep you occupied whether for holidays or a more permanent lifestyle. Dinan, of course, is on the doorstep, and this mediaeval town is one of the region's best loved destinations. Walk the ramparts, traverse the tiny cobbled streets, enjoy seeing the mediaeval houses with their external timbers, visit museums, browse the shops, watch the daily colour and bustle of the river port or simply settle down to a fabulous meal in one of a great choice of restaurants. Whatever it is you like, Dinan is sure to supply.
Further places to visit include the port town of St Malo, seaside resorts of both the Pink Granite Coast and the Emerald Coast, or head inland to the beauty of the Breton countryside. Tréguier is a town with a fascinating history and culture, and there are many more towns and villages in the immediate vicinity that will charm and entertain you. Brittany is a land of legends and mysteries, and almost anywhere you go there will be a magical story to uncover.
The nearest airport is that of Dinard, although Rennes is also within reach. Dinard is served by Ryanair and Aurigny, while Rennes is served by Flybe. Meanwhile the best ferry port to head for if you want to sail is St Malo. Road travellers will find Léhon on the D12 near to the N176.
Considering the beauty of the village and its very desirable location, property in Léhon is really very reasonably priced. Village houses and cottages can be found for between 100,000 and 200,000 Euros, while if you have a more generous budget the sky is the limit with some really stunning properties on offer.
