Plélauff - a pretty Breton village

The pretty, tranquil village of Plélauff is located in the north of Brittany, in the department of the Côtes d'Armor, renowned for its historic towns, glorious countryside and lovely coastline. With a welcome to rival any anywhere in France from the locals, Plélauff is a genuine mediaeval village that brings all the atmosphere and history of this beautiful region to life.

What's in Plélauff?

Truth be told, there's not a lot in Plélauff, at least not in terms of night-life and shops... but that is just the way the residents like it. Quaint and charming, the village has some historic features that are worth seeing, such as its church and its Notre Dame de la Croix Chapel, as well as its ancient buildings and twisting, narrow streets. There's a little bar, where you can practice or polish your French and get to know the locals, and if you want a string of shops and a choice of restaurants, there are plenty of well equipped towns and villages all within easy reach. Gouarec and Plougernevel are the closest villages while the closest towns are Rostrenen, Pontivy and slightly further away St Brieuc.

The local area

Plélauff is a tranquil hideaway, but there is so much to do and see on the doorstep that you really won't be bored. The sea is close, so days at the seaside are always on the cards. The Nantes Brest Canal is a lovely setting for peaceful walks, and also provides great fishing for those who enjoy this relaxing pastime. The quiet roads and tracks of the region are perfect for walking, cycling or horse-riding, and for those who require a little more horsepower to their sports, there is a quad biking centre just ten minutes away. The leisure lake of Guerlédan is very close to the village too, and offers even more activities in another beautiful setting.

Culture also on the doorstep

For culture buffs, Plélauff has the excellent Camina Centre, where many different educational and cultural activities take place. Further afield, places to visit include Dinan, one of Brittany's most charming towns, Treguier, the town of lawyers, and the historic and fascinating town of Guingamp.

How to get there

There is an airport at Dinard, and you can fly there direct with Ryanair or Aurigny Air. You can also fly to Lorient (Aer Arann), Brest (flybe and Ryanair) or Rennes (flybe and Aer Lingus). Those who prefer to travel by boat will find St Malo and Roscoff the nearest ferry ports. Drivers will find Plélauff from the N164.
