Plémet - a characterful small market town

Plémet, in the Côtes-d'Armor department of Brittany, is a delightful little market town with plenty of Breton character and good local amenities. Set almost on the edge of the lovely Loudeac Forest, and near the waters of the River Lie, the town makes a perfect location for getting out and about in the beautiful countryside and for trying your hand at a great selection of outdoor pursuits. The beautiful Breton coast is within a forty-five minute drive, while heritage towns such as mediaeval Dinan are also within easy reach.

Well appointed offering essential amenities

While many French rural villages offer very little in the way of amenities, Plémet is extremely well appointed, with shops, a supermarket, a restaurant and a weekly market (Tuesdays) where you can get fresh produce straight from the producers in the traditional way. The lively village centre lacks for nothing, so you don't have to make an arduous car journey to bring home the bread, the galettes or any of the other little necessities of life.

Loudeac is close by

Plémet also offers banks, medical services, local services and more. The bar and restaurant allow for a very pleasant opportunity to relax and enjoy the company of other villagers, improve your French and enjoy the local cuisine too. The larger town of Loudeac, nearby, offers further facilities, including a fantastic leisure pool, a horse racing track, hypermarket and an extensive choice of restaurants.

Enjoy the many outdoor activities on offer

Plémet's setting, in glorious countryside with forests, rivers and tranquil roads and tracks, is just tailor-made for those who like to spend their leisure time in the fresh air. Whether your hobby is walking, horse-riding, cycling, kayaking, fishing or swimming, you can enjoy it within a few minutes of a base in the town.

Explore Dinan and Lake Guerlédan

Day trips from Plémet might involve heading for Dinan to discover its heritage and mediaeval charm, seaside fun for all the family at a resort such as Val Andre, while the superb leisure lake of Guerlédan is almost on the doorstep at a mere half an hour away.

How to get there

The nearest airports are found at Rennes and Dinard, and both offer direct flights from the UK. Dinard is served by Aurigny and Ryanair while Rennes is served by Flybe. The nearest ferry port is St Malo, while drivers can find the town from the national road N164, lying along the D792.

Property prices and availability in and around Plémet

Although the Côtes-d'Armor is said to be a fairly expensive property choice, inland towns such as Plémet offer much better value for money than those on the coast, while still being close enough to allow you to enjoy the seaside whenever you wish! Prices in Plémet at the time of writing are reasonable, with pretty village houses on the market for less than 100,000 Euros.
