Plénée Jugon – a quiet Breton town
Plénée Jugon is a quiet and pretty little town that is located in north-western France, in the Côtes d'Armor department of Brittany. The town sits amid lovely countryside, with woods, forests, lakes and rivers in abundance. Plénée Jugon is just a half hour's drive from the beautiful Breton coast, and is very handily located for access to and from the UK making it a perfect place for weekends and holidays.
|
Shops and amenities
Plénée Jugon has a useful collection of shops and services, making life easy and straightforward. The shops include the usual necessities of French life... a boulangerie, a post office and a couple of small supermarkets for convenience and speed shopping! There is also a bank and cash point to take care of your day to day financial requirements, hairdressers to keep you looking chic, a medical centre and pharmacy to keep you healthy and a florist to provide bouquets for those special occasions in life. For the more self indulgent moments of the day, there is a café and also a couple of bars that offer comfort, chat and something good in a glass to chill out over. Could you ask for more?

Out and about
The area around Plénée Jugon is perfect for those who like the countryside, and who enjoy sports and leisure pursuits in the great outdoors. Brittany (and perhaps especially the Côtes d'Armor) is full of charming mediaeval towns and pretty villages to visit, as well as the great cities and the beaches that are so well known. Dinan, said to be one of the best preserved mediaeval fortified towns in the country, is close and here you can experience the ambience of days gone by whilst enjoying access to all the accoutrements of a modern tourist town.
|
Great lakes
Perhaps Plénée Jugon's greatest asset is its proximity to the gorgeous leisure lakes of the neighbouring Jugon les Lacs, where you can fish, swim, sail, windsurf or simply sunbathe. Cyclists will find a great cycling centre there. Meanwhile walkers, golfers and horse riders are also equally well catered for in the area.
|
How to get there
To travel by air, you can choose to fly into Dinard, served by Ryanair and Aurigny, or Rennes, which has flights with flybe and Aer Lingus. Ferry travel is another good choice, as the port of St Malo is very close to Plénée Jugon being only 40 minutes away, and the ports of Roscoff, Caen and Cherbourg are also within a very reasonable distance. If you prefer the train, then trains from Paris run to the nearby town of Lamballe, while drivers will find the town just off the N12.

Property prices and availability in and around Plénée Jugon
Inland towns such as Plénée Jugon tend to offer better value than the coastal towns, especially in the Côtes d'Armor, where coastal properties can be quite expensive these days. Bargain hunters... this is for you!
