Ploufragan - south of St Brieuc
Lying just to the south of the popular coastal town of St Brieuc (the principal town of the Côtes d'Armor department in northern Brittany), is the lively town of Ploufragan. With a history dating back some 5,000 years, the town offers both a fascinating history to be discovered and a modern, forward thinking community life with all mod cons. The location, close to the sea (just fifteen minutes) and near St Brieuc and the ferry ports, makes Ploufragan an ideal spot for those who need easy access to the UK yet want a great place to spend weekends and holidays.

Downtown Ploufragan
All the facilities of the prefecture of St Brieuc are on the doorstep, but there isn't much that can't be found within Ploufragan itself. The town is sizeable, with some 11,000 inhabitants, and it caters for these extremely well, with excellent shopping, dining, health care, education and all the usual services. There is a successful and important industrial park on the edge of town, but Ploufragan centre remains unspoiled, with a very warm and friendly atmosphere.

These include megaliths, or standing stones, some lovely chapels, fountains and 15th century buildings to see. The cultural life of the town is also thriving, with "Operation Ploufragan Estivale" running a programme of events and courses each summer which enable you to discover everything about the town and its immediate area, and about the small businesses and traditional pursuits which have been important to the townsfolk for centuries.

Details can be found at the Mairie. The Place Victor Hugo also runs cultural exhibitions and events throughout the year, and the town hosts a number of concerts, theatre and dance festivals which really liven up the atmosphere.
