Plounévez Quintin – in a popular part of France
The region of Brittany is very popular with British people, whether they are seeking to relax on their holidays in this lovely part of France, or looking for a permanent home on the romantic side of the channel. What's more, the Côtes d'Armor is one of the most popular departments in Brittany, so to find a hidden jewel of a village such as Plounévez Quintin is a triumph.
|
Tranquil Plounévez Quintin
The entire region is beautiful but some of the best known towns and villages are so busy in summer that the erstwhile tranquillity, so appealing to many, is lost in a whirl of activity. Plounévez Quintin offers a chance to rediscover that tranquillity, the essence of the Côtes d'Armor while still being within reach of the bustling coastal towns.
|
Handy shops and services
Plounévez Quintin may be small, but it has some handy local facilities so you don't have to travel far if you just need a pint of milk or a tasty baguette. Plounévez Quintin boasts a post office, a boulangerie, a boucherie, a newsagent (which doubles as a florist's!), a hair salon and a general store which sells most of the daily requirements. If you need to access larger shops and supermarkets you don't have to worry as they are close to hand in the nearby towns of St Nicholas du Pélem and Rostrenen.
|
Wining and dining
Quite often, in a smaller town or a village such as Plounévez Quintin you wouldn't expect to find a bar or restaurant, but here you have both. There is a bar tabac, a creperie, and a very decent little restaurant too, so there is no excuse not to get out and enjoy the great food and drink of Brittany.
|
Sports and leisure
Brittany is a wonderful place for sportsmen and women, as there is so much to do here. The coast is superb and offers chances of sailing, swimming and beach sports, while inland you have access to some of France's most beautiful countryside, with walking, cycling and horse-riding being understandably popular pursuits. Near Plounévez Quintin you can also find towns with both indoor and outdoor pools, golf courses and tennis courts. Local lakes offer sailing, canoeing, kayaking and pedaloes, and at Guingamp, there is a fabulous water park that is sure to keep the kids amused for an hour or two.
|
How to get there
To reach Plounévez Quintin from the UK you can fly to Dinard with Ryanair or Aurigny, or to Brest with Ryanair or flybe. Or you have the option of travelling by ferry to St Malo or Roscoff, and if driving onwards, you will find the village on the D790, not far from the N164.
