Saint Carreuc - amid the forests of Brittany
The historic village of St Carreuc lies amid the beautiful forests of the Côtes d'Armor department of Brittany in the north-west of France. The village has origins dating back to the 13th century, when it is recorded as being called "Sanoti Karooi". St Carreuc has plenty to recommend it to property seekers from the UK, as it is perfectly situated for ease of access, with Dinard's airport and St Malo's ferry port near to hand as well as a good road network for those who prefer to drive from Calais.

Make time to discover the various ancient stone crosses, the lovely chapel and church, the traditionally constructed stone village houses and the Château du Plessix, at whose noble feet the village sits.

St Carreuc is small and rural, but there is a real village heart beating here. In and close to the village you can enjoy the services of excellent amenities such as shops, bars and restaurants. Agriculture is of prime importance to the economic life of St Carreuc, and you will find a predominance of associated products for sale here.

St Carreuc is close to many major towns such as St Malo, St Brieuc and Dinan, so you could be spoiled for choice when it comes to organising days out or just planning shopping trips! If, on the other hand, you fancy a peaceful day you could do no better than to spend it enjoying the fresh air, glorious countryside and lovely woodlands of the surrounding area, or perhaps taking a trip to a nearby leisure lake such as Lac Guerlédan to do a spot of fishing, swimming, sailing or simply sunbathing. Walkers, horse-riders and cyclists can access many miles of safe off road trails or quiet lanes, and there are some fine golf courses near St Carreuc so that even the keenest of golfers will be happily occupied.

How to get there
If you want to fly, you can take a flight to Dinard, Rennes, Brest or Lorient. Dinard is served by Aurigny and Ryanair; Rennes by flybe and Aer Lingus; Brest by flybe and Ryanair; and Lorient by Aer Arann. Travelling by rail will get you to St Brieuc, from where you can link to a local train to St Carreuc itself. The excellent Brittany Ferries will take you to the port of St Malo, from where it is a short drive to reach your destination. Roscoff is also within reach. Drivers will be able to find the town from the N12.

Property prices and availability in and around Saint Carreuc
St Carreuc is a rural village, and as such provides a good number of properties with land attached, which could be of interest to those with animals in tow, or who hope to run a small-holding type of enterprise in France. On the other hand, you could just enjoy being surrounded by a little piece of your own French kingdom! Prices are reasonable, especially when compared with prices in the coastal and popular tourist towns of the department.
