Ploermel’s growing community

What to do in Ploermel
The town of Ploermel is known for its very interesting and unusual astrological clock. It’s definitely worth a look! Other than this, there are lots of places to go and things to do in the town, and you can find plenty of leisure activities with a bowling alley, a cinema, two new shopping centres, a good number of bars and some excellent restaurants. Don't forget to get up early on Friday mornings and get down to the market... you'll be glad you made the effort!

Le Lac au Duc
Lovers of the great outdoors and sports fans will find lots to please in and around Ploermel. There is a fabulous lake, Le Lac au Duc, which was man made back in mediaeval times. The lake is said to have flooded the old village which can still be found beneath its cool, deep waters! Le Lac au Duc offers many activities, with boating tuition, swimming, pedaloes and lovely safe beaches for family picnics.

Forêt de Paimpont
There are lots of land sports available too, with the town being set close to the lovely Forêt de Paimpont which has beautiful trails for walking, cycling and horse-riding. Of course, there is always the coast to visit too, and the town of Ploermel is only about an hour away from Brittany's lovely beaches.

How to get there
You can fly to the airports of Rennes (flybe, Aer Lingus), Lorient (Aer Arann), Brest (flybe, Ryanair) or to Dinard (Ryanair, Aurigny). If you take the ferry, the port of St Malo is the nearest although all the northern ports are within a reasonable driving distance. The N24 is the road to take if you are driving, and you will find the town easily from there.
