Vatan is a very small town with a little over 2000 inhabitants. It is about a two-hour drive from Paris and is located in the Berry region of the Centre-Val-De-Loire. This is one of the most attractive areas in the Loire Valley.
In the first two weeks of July, the town hosts an exhibition for the region’s amateur painters to show off their talents. There is a market every Wednesday morning. This is a perfect place to sample some of Berry’s distinct culinary delights. Pies, potatoes, goat’s cheese, honey and foie gras are all not to be missed.
Football, handball, swimming, tennis and gymnastics are all well catered for within the town. If you’d like something a little more relaxing to help wind away your time then you could try your hand at a game of bowls.
There are plenty of scenic walking and cycling routes to attract those with a love of the outdoors. The town is located not far from the river Cher and so there are plenty of opportunities for canoeing and fishing.
The nearest airport is in Tours where RyanAir has daily flights from Stansted. Travelling across land is quite straight forward - simply take the A10 from Paris and then turn off at Exit 10. The Loire Valley is a popular place for second home owners, both from Paris and abroad. This has pushed property prices up above average and there aren't many real bargains to be found.

Access: Paris is a mere two hours away, although you'll find a nearer international airport in Tours.
Economy: Traditional rural ways are adhered to, although you will notice an increased emphasis on tourism.
Interesting fact: The village is enthusiastic about the arts and has its own amateur exhibition over the first two weeks of July.
