For buying and selling property in Florensac
If you are seeking to purchase a home or holiday home that really has all the charm of the old south of France, and which remains relatively unspoiled (though not untouched) by tourism, you could do worse than take a look at Florensac. Florensac is a little Mediterranean town that lies near the coast and the Bassin de Thau in the Hérault department of Languedoc-Roussillon. It is a delightful town that retains many ancient features and has a thoroughly Mediterranean laid back way of life, yet also manages to offer most things and is well placed for access to the hotspots of the Languedoc coast.
Florensac has no shortage of simple pleasures on offer, with a proliferation of bars, cafés, restaurants and shops to enjoy. Of course, being so close to the Mediterranean, and also to the Bassin de Thau, whose shellfish (particularly oysters) are legendary, seafood features strongly on most menus. There are pizzas and other traditional fare available too, though, for those rare souls who are not captivated by the freshness of the fish!
Most amenities can be found in town, but should you need more than little Florensac can provide, you can always pop to the historic city of Béziers, and discover its tragic but fascinating Cathar history whilst you are there!
One of the great things about Florensac is that it makes a great base for further exploration of this fabulous area. There are all the wonderful vineyards and wine domains to visit, and of course, the fabulous wines of the Hérault to taste. There are traditional markets and festivals taking place in the region throughout the season, and one of the most colourful local spectacles is the water jousting that can be seen at Sète.
Discover the city of Carcassonne, looking as though it is the home of the Sleeping beauty herself, or simply enjoy long lazy days beside the sea. The more active among you may wish to take advantage of the many sporting activities the region offers, with horse-riding, swimming, sailing, fishing, and hiking among the most popular.
The nearest airports are those of Montpellier, Toulouse, Carcassonne and Perpignan. Montpellier is served by GB Airways and Ryanair; Toulouse by British Airways, easyJet, bmi and Jet2; Carcassonne by Ryanair; and Perpignan by Ryanair, bmibaby and flybe. Rail travel is also possible, as you can take the Eurostar from England to Paris, then change to a TGV and travel swiftly to Montpellier or Toulouse.
The Hérault is a popular place to live or to holiday, unsurprisingly, so prices can be considerably higher than in some parts of France. Mention the Med, and prices rise, or so they say. Is it true? Well, yes, to a point, but if you choose the right part of the Med you will certainly get more for your money. Florensac property is a bargain compared with that a little further along the coast in the Riviera... so take a look and see what your buck will buy! There are some lovely, fully renovated and ready to move into village houses on the market at the time of writing, and the prices are a lot less than you might expect, given the prime location of this town.
