Pretty southern spa town
The town of Lamalou-les-Bains in southern France is a favourite place for many British buyers and second home owners from abroad as well as from France. A small town of considerable charm, Lamalou benefits not just from its thermal springs and health giving waters, but also from its superb geographical position between mountains and sea. With a lively ambience in season, and beautifully tranquil out of season, Lamalou-les-Bains has something to offer everyone.
|
Location, location, location
If location is everything in the property game, then Lamalou-les-Bains must have a huge advantage on most places. Set in the south of France, it has an enviable Mediterranean climate and is as pretty as a picture, lying as it does between the dramatic and beautiful Cévennes Mountains and the warm blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea. Lamalou-les-Bains answers most people’s dreams of a perfect place in the south of France.
|
All amenities
Lamalou has all amenities on hand, with banks, shops, supermarkets, restaurants, bars and even a casino for those big nights out. The casino also hosts dinner dances at certain times, and can be a popular venue for special occasions.
|
Go on, spoil yourself!
The town is famous for its thermal waters, so why not treat yourself to the luxury of a spa treatment or two. The waters are said to be beneficial to health, and the town has long been popular with devotees of thermalism. Lamalou now offers these treatments in luxurious surroundings… so what are you waiting for?

Exciting sporting opportunities
Lamalou-les-Bains offers some excellent sporting opportunities, with lots of choice. Try the exciting sport of white water rafting in the rushing waters of the mountains to the north, or if this isn’t your cup of tea, take a short drive south to the warm, calm Mediterranean Sea for an altogether more relaxing experience. Lamalou has its own nine-hole golf course, and a tennis club with five courts. Horse-riding is available close by, where there is a very popular equestrian centre. The area is also renowned for being superb for rock climbers, with a particularly interesting climb on the limestone cliffs at nearby Narbonne.
|
How to get there
To reach Lamalou-les-Bains by air you can fly to Montpellier, which offers flights from the UK with three airlines. Ryanair, British Airways and GB Airways all fly into the airport. If for any reason this doesn’t suit you, Carcassonne, Girona, Marseille, Toulouse and Perpignan are near enough to serve. Train travel is possible as there is a TGV stop in Montpellier. Travelling from Calais by road, take the aptly named Autoroute de Soleil to Orange, then the Languedocienne.

Property prices and availability in and around Lamalou-les-Bains
Property in Lamalou is not the cheapest in France, but it is certainly better priced than some! In general terms, the Hérault is more expensive than the Aude to its south and west, and less expensive than the Cote d’Azur, lying to the east. You can find reasonably priced property in Lamalou, but it does tend to sell quickly.
