The small town of La Souterraine, located in the north of Limousin, is home to a little over 5000 people. It is notable for its many archaeological sites.

The region is awash with green hills, dotted with many old churches and castles. The town itself has two churches dating from the 11th and 13th century that are well worth a visit.
