Saint Sulpice Laurière is a small rural market town which lies in the most delightful countryside of the Haute-Vienne in the Limousin region. Set within minutes of the A20 auto route for ease of access, Saint Sulpice Laurière is ideally located for holidays or a peaceful new life in the French countryside.
Saint Sulpice Laurière is a very attractive town whose old streets, houses and traditional style street markets call to mind a more tranquil way of life and a more innocent world. In the town you can find a bank, a florist, a butcher, baker, a couple of general stores, a hairdresser, post office and a petrol station. There is a café too, and the town also has the benefit of an English-speaking doctor and dentist.
One of the big attractions of Saint Sulpice Laurière is its beautiful setting, amid fields, hills and forests, and also on the edge of a lovely fishing lake where the tranquillity is assured as no swimming or water sports can be carried out on this lake… it is dedicated to fishermen. However, non anglers can still enjoy the scenery and the children's play areas and picnic facilities.
The Limousin is a land of lakes and forests and unspoiled countryside, and so makes a perfect paradise for lovers of the great outdoors. From a base in Saint Sulpice you can enjoy many outdoor pursuits, with walking, cycling, horse-riding, fishing, swimming, sailing and many more available right on the edge of the town. Although the lake at Saint Sulpice is purely for fishing, water sports can be found just a few kilometres away near the small town of Laurière.
The region also offers a wealth of charming villages and historic towns to visit. Among the most interesting is the memorial village of Oradour sur Glane, preserved just as it was left after one of the worst atrocities committed in Nazi occupied France during the Second World War, or the designated "most beautiful village" of Mortemart. The main city of Limoges is never less than a joy to visit, with heritage, culture, shops and great restaurants to enjoy as well as its porcelain heritage to discover.
The city of Limoges has an airport with direct flights to and from the UK from the economy airline Ryanair and also Flybe. It has a TGV station too, and good auto route links. The A20 auto route runs very near to Saint Sulpice Laurière, which is found on the D78/D203.
