For buying and selling property in La Salvetat Peyralès
The tranquil little village of La Salvetat-Peyralès, in the Aveyron department of southern France, lies in a picturesque setting. The area is noted for its proliferation of sweet chestnut trees, and there is idyllic walking to be done amongst these. Meanwhile La Salvetat-Peyralès is a sunny, attractive village. Uncluttered and unspoilt, it sings of simple, southern French style.
It's not unusual for small rural villages to have no local shops and few amenities. But luckily, that's not the case with La Salvetat-Peyralès. The village has several small shops, including a little supermarket, a boulangerie, a hairdresser's, a pharmacy and a post office. There are also a couple of hotels with restaurants. And once a month La Salvetat-Peyralès has a "foire", a little farmer's market selling fresh local produce. If you need a bigger supermarket, or want to visit a larger street market, the village of Rieupeyroux offers these just along the road.
The village has a handful of heritage sites. The most impressive is just outside the village, in a hamlet called Roumégous. It takes the form of a ruined chateau. Ruined, yes, but still mightily impressive to see! Other buildings of note include a church, a chapel and a cross authenticated in the Parish archives as a relic.
With its beautiful setting in the unspoilt countryside of the Aveyron, La Salvetat-Peyralès offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors and the fresh clean air. Activities you might like to try include walking, horse-riding, cycling or fishing.
If you want to get out and about and explore the area, you could do worse than take a trip to Najac. One of France's celebrated "most beautiful villages", it's more than worth a look. Fans of French markets will enjoy a visit to Villefranche de Rouergue. It's a beautiful historic town which boats a fabulous market square and old market hall. A bit further afield, but not to be missed, is Millau Bridge. This world famous viaduct will take your breath away.
The nearest airport and railway station is found at Rodez, about 45 minutes from La Salvetat-Peyralès. Toulouse, at about an hour and a half away, is another option and offers more choice of flights, airlines and trains, which includes the TGV. Drivers can find the village on the D905, not far from the N88 motorway.
The countryside around the village offers a number of fabulous farm properties, often with land and outbuildings. In many parts of France these have become quite difficult to find, and they are still high on the list of most desired property types among British buyers.
