Brax – a thriving historic town
Brax is a thriving historic town that is located in the south-west of France, not far from the town of Agen and the city of Toulouse. Traces of the rich history of Brax can be seen immediately as you approach the town, as the 13th century ruined castle, the Château de Brax, comes into view, but this is a town for whom history alone is not enough. Brax has quite a lively little commercial centre, with a good range of shops and all the usual services. There are primary schools, doctors and sports and leisure facilities in the village, and it is also worth remembering that the large town of Agen, famed for its plums, and the lovely city of Toulouse are near enough to make any shortfall of amenities easy to make up.

If you enjoy a little of the fine things in life, you will not be disappointed with the food and drink you will find here in Brax and the Haute-Garonne. The region is noted for its rich duck-based cuisine, and you can also find excellent Toulouse sausages, hearty cassoulets, tasty haricot beans and some really delicious locally produced wines. The region has a great number of restaurants too, and Toulouse is more than happy to offer a huge selection of cuisines to choose from as well as many cultural events to enjoy.

A good area for sports
The Haute-Garonne is a very good place to settle if you enjoy outdoor sports. Brax and its lovely environs offer opportunities to walk, cycle, ride horses, fish, swim, sail... and there are good golf courses in the region too. In the winter, you will see the white tips of the Pyrénéan Mountains from high points around the region, and you may be pleasantly surprised to find that the ski resorts are within easy reach, perhaps not much more than a couple of hours drive away.

How to get there
Brax is easily accessible from the UK, thanks to the international airport at Toulouse. It is served by British Airways, easyJet, bmi, Jet2 and flybe. The TGV also runs to the city and from here you can take a twenty-minute ride on a local train to the station shared by Léguevin and Brax. If you are driving, and it is always a good idea to have a car to make further exploration of the area possible, you will find Brax on the D119 road.
