Tournefeuille - Haute Garonne's "third city"...
To refer to Tournefeuille merely as a suburb of Toulouse is surely to do this large town a disservice. Tournefeuille, while certainly rubbing shoulders with Toulouse on the map, is a large town... almost a city... in itself, with a thriving economy and community all of its own. Its closeness to France's "third city" is, of course, a bonus for those who enjoy all the benefits of Toulousain city life, but without paying Toulousain prices. Tournefeuille is a real find.

Lively "village style" centre
Tournefeuille has a lively heart, and far from being an anonymous satellite of its larger more illustrious sister, it has a genuine identity and a village style centre. There is a strong sense of community and a pride in being a part of the life of Tournefeuille, and the town's superb facilities make it a great place to bring up children. Its many well respected schools, excellent health services, cultural events and sporting clubs make Tournefeuille's claim to be the preferred town of Toulousains' seem very valid!

A rich gastronomy ...
If you choose town life over country life then one of the great advantages... especially in this part of France where the gastronomy is a prime source of regional pride... has to be the proliferation of wonderful restaurants, all on your doorstep. Tournefeuille has more than its fair share, and you can make your choice from regional specialities such as cassoulet and duck confits, or indulge the kids with their favourite pizza from the local take away. Don't forget that this is also a great wine region of France, and the local wines, especially the rich deep reds, are very good indeed.

Sports and leisure
The Lac du Ramée with its leisure base is a popular port of call for residents of Tournefeuille, particularly in the summer. Other than this there are a myriad of sports clubs. The town is passionate about rugby, just like Toulouse itself, and the countryside near the town offers even more sports and leisure possibilities. It is also worth noting that, perhaps surprisingly, Tournefeuille is close enough to both the mountains and the Med to provide the options of skiing in the winter and sea bathing and other sea sports in the summer.

How to get there
Fly to Toulouse-Blagnac with a good choice of airline and departure points from around the UK, including British Airways, easyJet, bmi, jet2 and flybe. Train travel is another possibility, with TGV links from Paris to Toulouse. The A64 auto route runs close to the town for those travelling by road.

Property prices and availability in and around Tournefeuille
Toulouse is known for pricey property, but you can offset this a little by choosing Tournefeuille instead. Close enough to Toulouse to reap the benefits of this great city, Tournefeuille offers a more affordable alternative.
