Fruges - a perfect place for a holiday property

The market town of Fruges is located in the Pas de Calais, in the north of France. It's a lively town with excellent modern facilities, but it also has history and heritage. It is home to a war cemetery, and is within easy reach of the coast and many of the attractions of northern France. It is also easy to reach from the UK, being close to the port of Calais and the Channel Tunnel, making it an ideal location for a weekend or holiday home.

Saturday is market day

Fruges is a vibrant market town with a great range of shops and services. Here you can find all the usual small shops such as boulangeries, patisseries, tabacs and more alongside supermarkets for that big weekly shop. The market takes place on Saturday morning, so don't be late!

Fruges has a history that dates back to the early Middle Ages, and there's quite a bit of heritage to discover. Take a look at the elegant Town Hall and the Gothic Revival Church of St Bertulphe, if you enjoy built heritage. There's a good museum in town, called the Abbot Delétoille Museum, where you can see an interesting collection of postcards, pewter artefacts, earthenware and arms. Visit the war cemetery, where there are graves of servicemen from both the World Wars. Finally, enjoy a leisurely a stroll down the lovely Avenue of Chestnut Trees.

Enjoy Fruges's fetes and festivals
