Getting out and about in the Côte-d'Or and in the region of Burgundy as a whole means visiting vineyards and tasting wines, eating superb local dishes in some of France's finest restaurants outside of Paris, and pursuing any number of cultural or sporting activities. Golf, fishing, horse-riding and hiking are ever popular in the area.
Places not to miss within reach of Précy sous Thil might include the fabulous city of Dijon, famed for so much more than its delicious mustard, being fantastically rich in heritage and culture; the wine town of Beaune; the Abbeys of Fontenay and Citeaux; or the mediaeval towns of Semur en Auxois and Chateauneuf en Auxois, and this is just the beginning! The glorious Natural Park of Morvan has rivers, fields, woodlands and stunning waterfalls and makes the perfect place to enjoy family picnics in plain nature, away from noise and pollution.
You can fly to Dijon, but not direct from the UK. The nearest airports with direct flights are Lyon and Geneva. The TGV, however, runs to Dijon and is a great way to travel. If driving, and really it is necessary to have a car to make the most of the region, you will find Précy sous Thil on the D36, not far from the A6 auto route.
Burgundy is generally considered to be quite an expensive area when it comes to property, as this beautiful region has become very popular with the discerning buyer seeking a home in the unspoilt countryside yet close to sophisticated cities. However, keeping a careful eye on the market can pay dividends, especially in this economic climate, when sellers are becoming more realistic about pricing their homes to sell. For example a lovely country cottage, fully renovated and ready to move into has recently been reduced to just 98,000 Euros!
