Saint Sever Calvados is a bustling small market town which enjoys glorious surroundings, being set almost at the edge of the Forest of Saint Sever, in the Calvados department of Lower Normandy in northern France. Apple orchards abound, and make a very pretty backdrop to the traditional towns and villages of the region. Saint Sever Calvados is easily accessed from the UK, being close to the port of Caen, and is within reach of the great beaches and resort towns of the Normandy coast.
There is always something a bit special about a French market town, at least on market days when the streets fill with colour, sound and the evocative scents of local gastronomic specialities cooking. Saturday is market day in Saint Sever Calvados, and there can be few nicer ways to spend a Saturday morning than browsing the market stalls and picking up something tasty for your tea.

To travel to the area from the UK by air you can fly into Dinard or Rennes in nearby Brittany. Caen and Deauville airports are closer but currently do not have direct flights to/from the UK. Dinard is served by Aurigny and Ryanair, and Rennes by Flybe. Should you prefer to take the ferry, the port of Caen is the closest, with Cherbourg not too far away. Drivers can find Saint Sever close to the D524. The nearest major road is the A84 auto route.
