The town of Evreux in northern France is a pretty cathedral town set in stunning countryside. How to get there

The best way to reach Evreux from the UK is to take the ferry. The town is not too far away from France's northern ferry ports, such as Le Havre and Dieppe. If you are driving from the UK you can take the Eurotunnel from Folkestone to Calais. Evreux is on the N13 route nationale. Those who wish to fly can fly to Paris on one of the numerous airlines that service this route, including Air France, bmibaby, British Airways, easyJet, bmi and flybe. From Paris you would then take a train or hire car to Evreux.

Due to its proximity to Paris, property in and around Evreux tends to be quite expensive, with little opportunity to purchase renovation projects or real bargains. Evreux is located in the Haute-Normandie (Upper Normandy) region of northern France. It sits slightly to the east in the more southern of the region's two departments, the Eure.

Access: By air: Fly to Paris.By boat: Evreux is near to France's northern ferry ports. By road: Evreux lies off the N13 route nationale.

Economy: The regional economy is mainly based on agriculture, with important products being apples and Calvados brandy. In addition to these, Evreux produces electrical equipment, pharmaceuticals, rubber and textiles.

Interesting fact: Evreux was badly damaged in the air raids of 1940, and the town burned for almost a week.
