For buying and selling property in Isigny le Buat
Although Isigny le Buat is best classified as a large village rather than a town, it is notable for its bustling lifestyle and lively attitude. The village has a thriving community and organises many social and sporting activities and also supplies excellent facilities and amenities. Around the village is the beautiful countryside of the Manche, lush and green with lakes, rivers, woodlands, pastures and orchards. The Normandy coast, with its excellent seaside resorts, is within easy reach.
If you like churches, Isigny le Buat has several lovely examples which are worth seeing. The old station building and the Mairie are also significant. Near to the village is a beautiful lake, great for fishing and boating, or swimming in summer.
The village really shines when it comes to amenities though, with a good selection of shops and services. Here you can find mini supermarkets alongside small shops such as boulangeries and boucheries, while services include a post office, banks, schools, doctors and many more.
What's more, there are several restaurants and bars where you can settle down to really enjoy life in a typical Normandy village. Meanwhile the village authorities organise sporting and cultural events for all ages to enjoy and to ensure a strong sense of community.
The most acclaimed sight in Lower Normandy is the amazing island town of Mont St Michel, so whatever you do don't miss this as it is not far from Isigny. Avranches is a gorgeous old market town also close to Isigny, and market day there is Saturday. Wandering around the stalls selling all the local goodies is a truly delightful way to spend a lazy Saturday morning, but take a big basket as you are sure to be tempted by the creamy Camembert cheeses, scrummy ciders and Calvados brandies.
If you enjoy getting out in the fresh air, this is a wonderful area too. It is prime horse-riding country, with gentle hills, huge swathes of unspoilt countryside and little traffic in most places. Cycling and walking are also very popular, as are fishing, tennis and swimming. Golfers will find plenty of courses with reach.
You can travel by air to the Breton airports of Dinard or Rennes. Dinard is served by Ryanair and Aurigny, and Rennes by Flybe. But probably a better way to travel is by boat to St Malo, Caen, Cherbourg or Le Havre. If driving, the town is found on the D47, with the nearest major road being the A84 auto route.
Lower Normandy and the Manche are slowly increasing in popularity with overseas buyers, as Brittany becomes ever more expensive, forcing home seekers to look elsewhere. Prices in and around Isigny are still pretty reasonable, with occasional real bargains coming onto the market.
