For buying and selling property in Percy
If location is everything, it's hard to beat the little town of Percy in the Manche. Not only is the town close to the ferry ports, making it perfect for escaping the UK at weekends or for short breaks, but it's also set in the heart of historic Normandy. With its proximity to the coast and the main tourist attractions and being steeped in history and heritage, the area around Percy offers endless possibilities.
Percy is pleasantly tranquil, but it has everything you are likely to need all within its own boundaries. Bakers, banks and a supermarket are on hand, as are all the usual service industries. For those who love French markets, there's a real treat on Saturdays when a farmer's market opens up selling the best of local fresh produce. There's also a restaurant/pizzeria and bar to enjoy.
The coast is less than half an hour's drive from Percy, so seaside family fun is always on the cards when the weather's fair. The countryside is lush and green, and ideal for equestrian pursuits. Lower Normandy is known too for its excellent golf courses, so fans of the game will find plenty of chances to indulge in their passion! Courses can be found at Granville, Couteville, St Lo and Lake Dathee. Cycling, canoeing and walking are also popular in the area.
The region is rich in history and heritage, so there's lots of choice when it comes to choosing places to see. You might want to start with a visit to Mont St Michel, the region's most iconic landmark. Or what about a trip to see the world famous Bayeux Tapestry? Other options might include shopping in Cherbourg, or a day discovering one of Normandy's prettiest towns, Coutances.
You can travel by air to Dinard or Rennes, just over the regional border with Brittany. Direct flights are available from the UK. It's also very easy to travel by ferry, with several ferry ports close by. These include St Malo, Cherbourg, Caen and Le Havre. If you are driving to Percy, you'll find it near to the A84 motorway on the D999.
Although very popular in its own right these days, Lower Normandy is usually less expensive then neighbouring Brittany, and in 2012 there are many bargains to be found. If you're happy to take on a property that needs renovation work, you should find some amazingly good value properties in this area.
