Brissac Quincé has a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants, so everything you need is close at hand. The town lies just 45 minutes from the departmental capital of Angers, which has a larger choice of shops and leisure activities.
Brissac Quincé is best known for its magnificent chateau. At seven storeys tall, it holds the distinction of being the highest chateau in the Loire Valley, and this, in addition to its stunning appearance and sumptuous interior, draws visitors from all over the world. Guided tours are available. Also worth visiting are the Mausoleum of the Dukes of Brissac, the churches of St Alman and St Vincent and the Priory of the Dove.
There's plenty to do in the Pays de la Loire. Although the department of Maine et Loire is an inland department, the fabulous Atlantic coast, with its resorts and sandy beaches, is just an hour and three quarters away. Then there are lakes and rivers closer to home for more fun and sunbathing! If none of this appeals but you are a keen swimmer, try the Aquatic Centre at Doue la Fontaine.
Of course, you won't want to spend your entire holiday in or on the water. Golfers can access several good courses within less than half an hour from Brissac Quincé, while equestrian fans need look no further than Saumur where the world famous Cadre Noir are based. Many other activities are found in the area too, walking, cycling, tennis, petanque - there's something for everyone.
Wine buffs and those wishing to expand the knowledge of wine will enjoy the region's wine tasting events and courses, or you can just visit the various wine domains and arrange a tasting yourself.
