For a small town in an inland department of France, Doué really has a lot to offer its residents and visitors. Not only does it have its roses and rosés, but also it has some fascinating troglodyte (cave) dwellings nearby. There is also a renowned zoo at Doué, and with the city of Saumur just a short drive away it is safe to say that you will never be stuck for something to do around Doué la Fontaine!
Motor sports fans will be pleased to know that there are opportunities for both go-karting and off-road motorcycling locally, as well as the more usual sporting activities of golf, swimming, fishing, cycling, walking and horse-riding.
If you want to fly from the UK, you can choose to fly into Tours, Nantes or Angers. Tours is served by Ryanair, Nantes by Ryanair and Aer Arann, and Angers by Eastern Airways. The train is also possible, as you can take Eurostar to Paris then link to a TGV for Saumur.
