For buying and selling property in Landivy
Landivy is a pretty small town which glories in its setting amid bucolic countryside. The area is a paradise for walkers and nature lovers, and the flora and fauna of this unspoilt part of France is a joy to discover. Landivy dates back to the 11th century, and has an intriguing built heritage with lovely traditional buildings as well as its supreme natural beauty.
Landivy's heritage includes the Landivy Gallic monument found near the church, which dates back to the 5th century BC! The town has many original buildings, and a walk around is a tour of discovery of typical local building styles from various periods of the town's history.
Landivy has small shops and basic services. There is a school, a general store, bakeries, a butcher's, a post office, tobacconists, hairdressers and a bar. Saint Hilaire du Harcouet is just minutes away and has much greater facilities including a supermarket and a great traditional street market on Wednesdays.
All around the town is a peaceful world of woodlands, meadows, country trails and beautiful views, giving you the impression that the hectic world of the UK exists in an alternative universe. Sporting and leisure activities in the area include swimming, walking, horse-riding, cycling, fishing, golf and sailing.
As the Mayenne is located in the north of the region of the Pays de la Loire, it is also close to Brittany, allowing you the possibility to discover the attractions of not one beautiful region of France, but two. Places to add to your itinerary, if getting out and about, include the mediaeval town of Domfront (pretty as a picture), the quaint town of Fougères with its tourist train (sure to appeal to the little ones in the party) and Jublains, with Gallo Roman remains. There is a super adventure park nearby, at Colmont Garron, and floral gardens to visit in Colombiers du Plessis.
You can fly into the airports of Rennes or Dinard. Rennes is served by Flybe and Dinard by Ryanair and Aurigny. Or you could take the ferry to St Malo, Caen, Le Havre or Cherbourg. If driving, the town is found on the D31. The nearest major roads are the A84 auto route and the N12.
Property in and near to Landivy is pretty reasonable in price, even though the Mayenne has recently become rather popular with Parisians seeking second homes in the peace of the countryside. It is still possible however to obtain a good renovation property or nice village house for well under 100,000 Euros.
