Chantonnay - an attractive, friendly town

Chantonnay is a peaceful and attractive town, with some graceful architecture to enjoy. It has a spacious design and a warm, friendly atmosphere, and is keen to encourage tourism throughout the year as well as offering a welcome to those who wish to live there full time. A rambler's paradise

The typical Vendeen countryside around the town of Chantonnay is perfect for walking. The 'bocage', the gently undulating hills, make walking a pleasure rather than an athletic challenge. There is, however, a challenge available to those of an energetic nature, as in May Chantonnay hosts the 'Four Days Walk'. This is as much a social event as a walking event, but if you are going to walk for the full four days be prepared for a blister or two! The event attracts walkers from afar as well as being enjoyed by the locals. Walking is the perfect way in which to discover both the pretty countryside and the lovely buildings of the town and its environs, with their red tiled roofs so typical of the region.
