Sainte Hermine occupies a lovely location, in the south of the Vendée department of the Pays de la Loire. The beautiful sandy beaches of the Vendée's acclaimed coast are easily reached by car, while the surrounding countryside is a peaceful haven reminiscent of days gone by. The little town is a great place to settle or to own a property. It's got character and heritage, as well as all amenities. Sainte Hermine has a long and rich history. Once an important transport crossroads, it's got links to politician Georges Clemenceau, the man who signed the Treaty of Versailles on behalf of France on June 28th, 1919. A statue to the great man stands in the town today. The greatest of Sainte Hermine's heritage sights is its magnificent mediaeval castle, which is found right in the middle of town. There's also a lovely early 20th century covered market hall to see.
Sainte Hermine offers you the chance to shop the traditional way at its Friday market, or the modern way in its shops and supermarket. So, you get the best of both worlds! The town also offers most local amenities and services. Nearby there are larger towns like Lucon where you can find greater facilities.
