For buying and selling property in Saint Jean Cap Ferrat
The town of Saint Jean Cap Ferrat, in the glorious sunshine of the French Riviera, is a holiday town which is the chosen resort for many of the world's wealthiest and most aristocratic glitterati. Consequently, property here comes at a premium that most of us cannot afford, but should you be financially blessed you may well find that this is indeed the town of your dreams.
Surrounded by all the wonders of this part of the Mediterranean, Saint Jean Cap Ferrat has parasol pines and palm trees for shade and respite from the endless sunshine. It has turquoise seas and silver sand beaches, designer shops, restaurants providing the very best of French cuisine and café culture, and layer upon layer of superb cultural entertainment. To top it all off, the town lies within easy reach of Nice, Monaco and even Italy!
Saint Jean Cap Ferrat lies on a peninsula and is therefore almost completely surrounded by the intense turquoise blue of the Mediterranean. The three main beaches of Saint Jean are known as Paloma Plage, Passable Plage and Croix des Pins. Of these, Paloma is probably the most delightful (though it is a tough decision!) and is rated as one of the ten best beaches in the Côte d'Azur.
Saint Jean Cap Ferrat also has a port, and although this was once an active fishing harbour it is now the preserve of the luxury yachts belonging to the town's wealthy visitors and residents. Even if your financial situation doesn't quite run to owning or hiring one of them, they make an undeniably attractive sight bobbing up and down on the calm water.
Saint Jean has many attractions as well as its beaches and harbour. There is a fourteen kilometre coastal walk around the peninsula which affords a wonderful view of the area, and this is arguably the best way to view the town. As you would expect, the town is equipped with some superb shops, and there are no shortage of great dress shops to ensure that you at least look as though you belong to the world of the rich and famous! Saint Jean also has many excellent restaurants, and not only are these quintessentially Provençal and "Rivieraesque" with their outdoor terraces and stylish design, but they represent the very best of the southern French gourmet tradition too.
Saint Jean is a lovely town, and has many points of interest. Look out for the beautiful dolphin statues that adorn and characterise the town. Take a trip to the zoological park where over 300 species of wild animals are housed in relative freedom, or visit the fabulous villa of the Baroness Beatrice Ephussi. This is open to the public, and you can gaze in awe at the amazing furnishings, lamps, carpets and art works, or wander in the superb gardens. These are designed as seven different themed areas, and are designated as follows: the Japanese garden, the Traditional French garden, the Florentine garden, the Exotic garden, the Spanish garden, the Lapidary garden and the Provençal garden.
This is a resort on the Med in the south of France... so water sports predominate. The area is so popular with holidaymakers, however, that most other sports are accessible with ease and consequently you can play golf, ride horses, cycle or do pretty much anything you want without having to travel far.
To get to Saint Jean Cap Ferrat, you can fly to Nice Airport with a great choice of airlines and departure points from around the UK. Nice is served by British Airways, Air France, bmibaby, easyJet, bmi, Jet2, flybe and Aer Lingus. The neighbouring town of Beaulieu sur Mer has a train station with links to the larger TGV network that runs all through France, so rail travel is another possibility. If driving from the north take the A6 to Lyon, then the A7 and finally the A8 to reach the town.
Saint Jean is considered to have some of the most expensive real estate in the world, so this is clearly not the place to look if your budget is tight. If you are seeking to live in the lap of luxury, however, and want to own a piece of France's Riviera and rub shoulders with Europe's elite, then nowhere could be better. Luxury villas abound, and there are some elegant older properties around as well. Many are hidden behind high walls for security and privacy, so you will need to make private arrangements to visit and view.
