For buying and selling property in Avoriaz
Avoriaz is really quite unlike any other resort in its architectural design. Built to fit into the contours of the mountainside, its buildings have a futuristic look that sets the resort apart from any of its neighbours. Whilst it may or may not appeal to you in its design (it's something of a "Marmite" question, you either love it or hate it), it's got a style all of its own. Avoriaz has also got access to the fantastic skiing of the Portes du Soleil, a traffic-free town centre and a family friendly ethos. It's also very reasonable when it comes to prices, in comparison with many of its neighbours.
Avoriaz is a lively resort, but one which primarily caters for families. Its car-free roads offer peace of mind to families with young children, and there are lots of child-oriented activities on offer too. That said, the resort has its share of great nightlife, so if you happen to be childfree you can still find plenty of lively bars and clubs where you can enjoy your après ski to the full. Those who prefer a more sedate evening will enjoy a range of excellent restaurants and quieter bars, so there's truly something for everyone here! Meanwhile Avoriaz has all the usual amenities associated with a good sized ski resort. There are shops, doctors, cinemas and ski and mountain equipment sales and hire outlets.
Avoriaz offers loads of options when it comes to having fun, on or off the slopes. In fact, there's as much to do in summer as in winter from this great resort. In winter, of course, you have access to the Portes du Soleil pistes and snow parks. It's got great connections, and not just by lift to other French resorts such as Morzine. Avoriaz also links to the nearby Swiss resort of Les Crosets. Other winter activities include sledging, dog sledding, horse drawn sleigh rides, caving and snow shoeing. Then there are summer sports too - the resort is a popular destination for mountain bikers who can pit their skills against the spectacular runs down the mountains. There is also golf and tennis on offer, as well as skydiving for those so inclined.
Any time of year is a good time to enjoy a visit to the fabulous water park complex of Aquariaz. Here all the family can swim and splash to their hearts' content in a tropical warmth.
There are so many possibilities when it comes to taking days out to explore the area that you could stay for a year and still not have exhausted them! Try a trip over the border into Switzerland, or spend a day in the great city of Geneva. The elegant lifestyle of lakeside towns and spas await discovery. Then there are the traditional mountain villages to see. In the old villages like Abondance you can discover the Savoyard heritage in a way that the ski resorts will never show you. See the processes by which the famous mountain cheeses are made, or explore the historic barns and farm buildings that are so unique to this part of the Alps.
The nearest airport with flights to and from the UK is Geneva. Rail travel can get you from the UK to Paris, and from Paris to Cluses. Finally, drivers will find Avoriaz on the D338, which you can access from the D902.
Property prices around Avoriaz are far more reasonable than you might expect of a resort with so much to recommend it. Sunny Avoriaz offers bright studios and apartments for less than 100,000 Euros, making the possibility of owning property in a great ski resort realistic for most.
