La Côte d'Arbroz is a tiny, picturesque hamlet, whose peace is little disturbed by the party goers or busloads of tourists that frequent nearby ski resorts, but it is minutes from some of the best skiing in the Alps. And, it is close enough to the party towns to allow you access to a range of après ski entertainment too.
So if you choose a hamlet location like La Côte d'Arbroz, chances are that you have chosen it because you like to be able to retreat to peace and quiet after your day's activities. Because that's mainly what you will find in the hamlet. It certainly isn't packed with nightclubs and supermarkets! In fact, pretty much all you'll find there (besides absolute beauty and sunshine) is a small, friendly bar. However, with Morzine and Les Gets as near neighbours, this really isn't a problem as you'll find all you want there.
It takes just five minutes to drive up to the top of the Col de l'Encrenaz, where you can take a ski lift to Mont Chery. From there, just strap on your skis and whizz into Les Gets for all the action. All the Portes du Soleil ski area is on hand for you from La Côte d'Arbroz, but if you want to take time away from the pistes you have a natural wonderland to discover around the hamlet. You might spot marmots, a herd of wild sheep or perhaps some chamois (a sort of antelope/goat). Other activities in the area include numerous winter sports, such as snow shoeing and tobogganing, as well as other mountain sports in different seasons. There is a golf course at Morzine, and more at Chamonix and Evian.
You can fly to Chambéry with Flybe or Jet2. If you prefer to arrive in Geneva, the airlines that go there from the UK are British Airways, Jet2, Flybe and easyJet. If you're travelling from Ireland, Aer Lingus also run to Geneva. Rail travellers can take Eurostar to Paris or Lille, the TGV to Cluses and a bus to Morzine. Finally, drivers will find the hamlet on the D328. The nearest major road is the A40.
There are several different types of people who buy property in the Alps. And there are just as many different reasons for their doing so. Some like the full on all day skiing and night-time party lifestyle of the trendy, large resorts, others prefer splendid isolation hidden from the world.
