For buying and selling property in Le Biot
The little village of Le Biot nestles into the stunning scenery of the French Alps and remains seemingly untouched by time, having the dreamy, tranquil air that many of the larger alpine villages lost years ago. Le Biot is deceptive, though, as although it appears to have no connection to the frenetic ski resorts that are so well known to all, this little village actually lies in the very heart of La Porte du Soleil, one of the largest ski areas in the world.
The ski area of La Porte du Soleil is perfect for keen skiers, having every possible level of pistes, off piste facilities, snow parks and ski schools. It also has access to miles and miles of the best skiing the Alps can provide. Within a very short distance of the village you can access the slopes and the extensive facilities of the larger and infinitely livelier town of Morzine, where the night-life is buzzing. After, you can return to the peace of Le Biot, where nothing will disturb your night's rest!
Le Biot offers basic amenities, having a bakery where you can buy delicious fresh baked breads, cakes and pastries, a tabac and a couple of restaurants. Morzine and other towns are nearby, though, so it isn't difficult to access more shops and supermarkets.
Winter or summer, there is plenty to do in the area. The ski resorts that surround the village have lots of sports on offer, and not just in winter. You can access golf courses, rock climbing, swimming, mountain biking and pony trekking, to name but a few of the activities that are available. Many people think of the Alps as a winter playground only, but the mountains are as beautiful in summer as they are in winter, and bring a whole range of different ways to occupy your time and enjoy this gorgeous part of France.
The nearest airports with direct flights to and from the UK are situated at Geneva and Lyon. Geneva is served by British Airways, Air France, Aer Lingus, easyJet, flybe and Jet2, while Lyon is served by Air France, British Airways, easyJet and bmi. The train is another good way to travel to the area as the Eurostar ski special runs all the way from England to Bourg St Maurice or Moûtiers. If you are driving from Paris, follow the A6 motorway to Lyon. The next major road is the A40, from which you can access the D902, which will take you close to Le Biot.
Nowhere in the Alps is really cheap, especially not somewhere so near to the great skiing areas as Le Biot. There are some very good properties on the market, though, with apartments priced at not much more than 100,000 Euros, so it may be more affordable than you might think.
