For buying and selling property in Seytroux
If you want a genuine taste of Haute Savoyard life yet still have access to wonderful skiing, you could do far worse than consider the tiny village of Seytroux, found in the Alps of eastern France. Seytroux is set in breathtakingly beautiful scenery, with mountains seemingly touched with fairy dust in winter when covered with snow, but green and pastorally Arcadian in summer, when the snows have melted and the cow bells ring out in the high sweet pastures once more. Seytroux is authentic and unspoiled, retaining a tranquil atmosphere far from the madding crowds, yet sits within the Portes du Soleil, one of the biggest and best ski areas in the world.
If you prefer to surround yourself with peace, tranquillity and beauty whilst still enjoying amazing skiing, Seytroux could be just the ticket. Seytroux offers only basic amenities, with a charming but simple bistro, a primary school and a church, but it only takes five minutes to reach shops and other necessary services and facilities. This has the advantage of keeping Seytroux completely traditional, both in appearance and in attitude.
Seytroux is great for keen skiers, though, as it is only a short way from the resorts of Les Gets and Morzine, and offers access to the massive Portes du Soleil ski area. There is a small drag lift from the village to the pistes, so you can get your day on the slopes off to an easy start.
Whatever the season, you won't be bored around Seytroux. Apart from the local activities of all possible snow sports, plus pony trekking, walking, climbing and cultural tours, Seytroux is just half an hour away from the fabulous Lake Geneva, where you can find many sports and leisure activities to occupy your time… as well as some great shopping and dining opportunities!
The nearest airports with direct flights to and from the UK are situated at Geneva and Lyon. Geneva is served by British Airways, Air France, easyJet, flybe, Jet2 and Aer Lingus, while Lyon is served by Air France, British Airways, easyJet and bmi. The train is another excellent choice for travelling to the area as the Eurostar ski special runs all the way from England to Bourg St Maurice or Moûtiers. If you are driving from Paris, follow the A6 motorway to Lyon, and from there you need the A40, which is the closest auto route to Seytroux. The village itself is easily accessed from the D902.
Property in the Haute-Savoie is usually pretty pricey, especially within a ski area so sought after as the Portes du Soleil. If you have the money to spend, though, you can't go far wrong buying here, as property holds its value well and is also a good rental prospect. Look for possibilities to purchase traditional renovation properties, difficult to find in the area at times, or constructible land in a good situation with views. If you build your own dream home here and ever wish to sell (although why would you?) you should be able to name your price.
