For buying and selling property in Crest Voland
If you prefer your ski resorts to be small and friendly rather than impersonal and bustling, and if your taste runs more to fun days on the slopes followed by a good meal and a gathering of friends, rather than the bright lights and discos of the large resorts, then consider the little town of Crest Voland. Situated in the Savoie department of eastern France, Crest Voland is pretty and traditional in style and has stunning scenery. All in all, Crest Voland is a delightful little Alpine resort that has a lot to offer.
Small it may be, but Crest Voland offers pretty much everything you need to enjoy your time in the resort. There is a bank and a handful of shops including supermarkets, There are also petrol stations, ski hire shops and crèches for the younger members of the party.
It goes without saying that Crest Voland offers some very good possibilities for skiing. The resort is connected to the Espace Diamante and is situated in midst of all the popular Alpine slopes. The word is that the pistes close to the resort are best for novice or intermediate skiers rather than experts, who may have to travel a little further to fully challenge themselves. If skiing is the "be all and end all" of your interest in the resort, it is best to plan to be there in peak season, as the beginning and ends of the winter can be less reliably white.
Most people who own or rent property in Crest Voland are keen skiers, but that is not to say that the resort doesn't cater for those who prefer not to strap planks of wood to their feet and whiz down a snowy mountain track. Crest also offers an ice rink, a gym, a swimming pool, a hot tub, a sauna and a myriad of summer sports for those who are there all year round or whose holidays extend beyond the snow season. Try paragliding, mountain walking, mountain biking and enjoy fishing and swimming in the mountain lakes.
The aprés ski is much as you would expect, with a selection of good bars and restaurants and not much in the way of wild parties. There is one nightclub, however, so this is handy if your party includes teens or twenty-somethings who would feel short changed on the aprés ski front without a chance to dance and chat until the small hours.
The airports of Lyon, Geneva, Grenoble, Chambéry all offer flights to the region from the UK. Lyon is served by Air France, British Airways, easyJet and bmi; Geneva by British Airways, Air France, easyJet, flybe, Jet2 and Aer Lingus; Grenoble by Ryanair and easyJet; and Chambéry by flybe, Jet2 and Astraeus. Lovers of train travel will be pleased to find they can access nearby Albertville or Megève by train from Paris in only three and a half hours. If driving, you will find signposts for the resort from the A40 and A43 motorways. Crest Voland lies close to Notre Dame de Bellecombe.
Crest Voland offers some interesting property propositions, but although it is less expensive then some of the swishiest celebrity packed resorts, it isn't particularly cheap. Its charm lies in its lack of pretension, its traditional prettiness and its small and friendly approach to life. If you own property in Crest you will soon become part of a real Alpine community and be welcomed home each time you return. The resort is perfect for families.
