The town of Les Menuires is a ski resort and mountain town that is located in the east of France, in the Savoie department of the Alps. Popular with all levels of skiers for its exceptional access to superb skiing and facilities, the town is also a delightful place in the summertime, with its beautiful setting and fresh mountain air.
Les Menuires is a lively and well equipped resort. You will find access to shops and services all to hand, as well as entertainment and some very good restaurants. In fact, according to the resort's information leaflet, there are some thirty-four restaurants, seven bars and two nightclubs to enjoy! As well as these Les Menuires has a concert hall with frequent concerts held. And although the permanent population is only 470, this increases substantially during the ski season.
Les Menuires has fantastic skiing and snowboarding for all levels and ages. It is in the area known as the Three Valleys ski area, which has hundreds of slopes to suit all skiers. There are off piste runs for the adventurous, black and moguls for the advanced, a myriad of intermediate options and gentle easy "nurseries" and green runs for beginners and the less stout of heart. You can find ski schools for novices and children, and snow parks with all manner of obstacles for the trendy boarders and free stylers! Access to the slopes is excellent and there are lifts and gondolas galore to get you to the starting points up the mountains.
The airports closest to the town are Geneva, Lyon, St Étienne and Chambéry. Geneva is served by British Airways, Air France, easyJet, flybe, Jet2 and Aer Lingus; Lyon by Air France, British Airways, easyJet and bmi; St Étienne by Ryanair; and Chambéry by flybe, Jet2 and Astraeus. Rail travel is also a good choice, as the TGV will get you to Bourg St Maurice where you can find transport links to Les Menuires and neighbouring resorts.
Property in the Alps is expensive, but there are usually some economical choices available for those on more of a budget. Studio apartments are among the cheaper options, and when it comes to the other end of the market, well, the sky is the limit! Les Menuires caters for both extremes, and has just about everything in between too, so chances are you will be able to find something to suit you in this excellent resort.
