For buying and selling property in Alsace
Alsace is France's smallest region, but what the region loses in size it certainly makes up for in character. Its location between the two great powers of France and Germany has made for a turbulent history. Today, both geographically and administratively, it is at the very heart of Europe. Alsace's regional capital, Strasbourg, serves as an important base for the European Union. Here, you can take a look at the European Parliament where the continent's policy-makers gather.
The region also has inextricable German links. You'll find that German is widely spoken alongside French (with various different dialects just to confuse you a bit more!). The Germanic influence also shines through in Alsace's culture and architecture.
The Vosges mountains make the region particularly beautiful and attract many tourists who wish to enjoy the breathtaking views. Although, Alsace's infamous beverages could be partly responsible for luring visitors as well! Don't forget to pack your skis though. The region is popular with cross-country and downhill skiers, who come each winter to enjoy the snow.
Alsace is a booming area offering little opportunity to snap up renovation projects. House prices are well above the national average. This is partly due to its superb location. Alsace has excellent road links with Paris, southern regions and bordering countries such as Germany and Switzerland. And the TGV network now extends to Strasbourg, making travel by rail easy and quick. Basel/Mulhouse airport also currently offers direct flights to/from the UK with easyJet.

The Bas-Rhin department, with its cosmopolitan atmosphere, is the perfect home for the European Union. The constant stream of bureaucrats and policy-makers means that there is a very buoyant rental market for short-term lets in particular.
Haut-Rhin, sandwiched between the Vosges mountain range and the River Rhin, is a diverse department in terms of its culture, landscape, architecture and cuisine.
Mulhouse, located in the Alsace region of France, is an ideal base from which to explore not only north-east France, but also Switzerland and Germany. A large industrial centre, Mulhouse is economically and culturally rich, and is a lively and cosmopolitan city.
The great city of Strasbourg, capital of its department (Bas-Rhin) and of its region (Alsace), is rightly famous for many reasons. It lies close to the border with Germany, and is the home of the Court of Human Rights and the European Parliament, among other important European organisations. Strasbourg embodies all that is best in this part of Europe with the fusion of French and German cultures and architecture.
Alsace is in the extreme north-east of France on the border with Germany and Switzerland.
