The little Gallo Roman town of Corseul in north-west France may seem unassuming today, but it was once an important Roman settlement. Set in the ever popular Côtes-d'Armor department, Corseul is an ideal base from which to enjoy the many splendours of this beautiful part of France. Coast and countryside are close at hand, as are many historic towns and picturesque villages.
Corseul possesses some fame thanks to its Gallo Roman heritage, and the excavations and remains are still visible today. The town also has a good little archaeological museum, providing a fascinating opportunity to trace the distant history of the town and the surrounding area where many important finds have been made.
The more modern side of life in Corseul offers a useful little supermarket for everyday provisions, two excellent bakeries, a pizzeria, a restaurant and several bars where you can sample the local specialities of food and drink. Nearby towns with greater choice of shops and eateries include Dinan and St Malo.
