Guitté - a picturesque village

Guitté, a small village of just over 500 inhabitants, is set in the pretty countryside of the Côtes-d'Armor department in the French region of Brittany. The region has long been sought after by British holidaymakers and property seekers due to its stunning beauty, wonderful coast and fabulous heritage. Guitté, with its lovely location, charm and reasonably priced property, could be just the place to find your new house in Brittany!

Discover the Guitté's Menhir

Guitté is just a small village, but it has its own intriguing heritage, both natural and built to discover. There are churches, chapels, chateaux and a manor house, not to mention the Menhir or standing stone which evidences Brittany's mysterious past.

Amenities in the village

About the village you can find several small shops and restaurants, while larger shops and more services are easily accessed in the nearby town of Broons which has an excellent range of amenities. The countryside that surrounds the village is idyllic for walkers, with many beautiful waymarked trails and unspoilt views.

Visit the beaches and mediaeval Dinan

This part of Brittany is famed, and rightly so, for its fabulous coast, and although Guitté lies inland it doesn't take much of a drive to reach the beaches and resorts for great days out. Whatever you do, pay a visit to the town of Dinan, just further along the River Rance. Here you can feast your eyes on wonderful mediaeval buildings, city walls, enjoy the atmosphere of a bustling river port and settle down to dine in some of the most atmospheric restaurants in the region.

Activities available in the area

All kinds of sports and leisure activities can be accessed near to Guitté, with swimming, sailing and beach sports at the coast and horse-riding, cycling, tennis and golf all nearby.

How to get there

Dinard and Rennes have airports linking directly to the UK, so it is possible to travel by air. Dinard is served by Ryanair and Aurigny and Rennes by Flybe. Ferry fans will probably find St Malo the most convenient port. If driving, the village lies not far from the N12 national motorway (non toll) on the D89/D25.

Property prices and availability in and around Guitté

Many people think that Brittany has become prohibitively expensive over recent years, but if you look inland there are many bargains to be found. Around Guitté, at the time of writing (January 2012), prices begin at just 38,950 Euros for a renovation property.
