For buying and selling property in Laniscat
If your idea of heaven is a tranquil village set in the beautiful countryside of rural Brittany, then take time to discover the little village of Laniscat in the Côtes d'Armor. Perfectly placed for easy access from the UK, Laniscat is unspoiled and absolutely peaceful, yet close to the amenities of larger towns, the fabulous Breton beaches, seaside resorts, historic towns and the Nantes Brest Canal.
Laniscat isn't the place for you if you want hypermarkets and nightclubs on the doorstep (although with the seaside resorts near enough for easy access you won't have to travel too far to find these, even from this rural hideaway!) but the village does offer some basic amenities which provide a useful resource for the days when you don't want to leave the peace and comfort of home.
In Laniscat you can find a boulangerie, where not only can you buy delicious bread and pastries, but some basic groceries too. There is a café come bar, ideal for getting to know the locals and enjoying the local tipples and treats, and a post office to keep you in touch with the wider world. You can get to a selection of supermarkets and other larger town facilities in a flash... just about ten minutes away by car. Many excellent restaurants can be found close to Laniscat too, and it is recommended that you try all of these at least once!
Quiet as Laniscat is, the area around the village is packed with things to do and see. Of course, you can get to the coast easily... this is Brittany after all and everywhere is within reach of the seaside and all its attractions. Lovers of fishing, sailing and swimming will find the beautiful Lake Guerlédan right beside the village, and the Nantes Brest Canal meanders its tranquil path through the countryside, offering shade, beauty and opportunities for long walks, easy cycling and perhaps even horse-riding. There are many fascinating mediaeval towns to see, history and legends to discover, and fêtes and festivals taking place throughout the region. In short, something for everyone!
There is an airport at Dinard, and you can fly there direct with Ryanair or Aurigny Air. You can also fly to Lorient (Aer Arann), Brest (flybe and Ryanair) or Rennes (flybe and Aer Lingus). Those who prefer to travel by boat will find St Malo and Roscoff the nearest ferry ports. Drivers will find Plélauff on the D44, after leaving the N164.
Laniscat is a good place to begin looking for a property if what you want includes peace and beauty rather than a hectic social life and the facilities of a large town. Country and village style properties made from traditional local stone abound, and are priced very reasonably especially in comparison with the coast, where prices have risen sharply in recent years.
