For buying and selling property in Lanvallay
The town of Lanvallay, although overshadowed by the fame of its very close neighbour of Dinan, has plenty to offer in its own right. This attractive town is set on the opposite bank of the River Rance from Dinan, and is an historic port. Lanvallay lies in very pretty countryside and has easy access to all the main attractions of the region. It's also easy to reach from the UK, thanks to Dinard's airport and the ferry port of St Malo.
Lanvallay is so close to Dinan that the facilities of the larger, more famous town are at the disposal of anyone staying or living in Lanvallay. However, Lanvallay itself has shops, supermarkets and restaurants, so there's no need to cross the river if you don't feel like it. The Super U supermarket has a section specialising in British foods, so if you're missing the familiar taste of home it's easy to find!
Of course you can, and must, cross the river to enjoy all the delights of Dinan, but stay awhile in Lanvallay first. The port is gorgeous, with something going on every day, and just walking along the river is an ever present pleasure. Don't miss the Maison de la Rance discovery centre in Lanvallay. Here you can trace the history of the area and learn all there is to know about the Rance River valley. The centre has a permanent exhibition hall plus it puts on temporary exhibitions and displays. You can also take motor boat tours along the river from here.
With a town like Dinan on the doorstep, you'll never be short of things to do. This mediaeval jewel has half-timbered houses, quaint little streets, ancient fortifications and lots of bars, restaurants and shops to enjoy. On top of all that, there are museums to visit and cultural events and festivals during the summer months.
It's but a short drive to the beaches and resorts of the Côtes-d'Armor coastline, and whatever you want from a day at the seaside you'll be able to find it there. There are quiet, secluded bays, dramatic rocks and cliffs and lively, traditional "bucket and spade" resorts. There is something for everyone. The ghostly island town of Mont St Michel is just half an hour away from Lanvallay by road, and as one of France's best loved attractions it's highly recommended!
Golfers have access to quite a few courses from a base in Lanvallay. Probably the closest is found near to the airport at Dinard, but there are five more within less than an hour's drive. The coast offers sailing, surfing and swimming, and many towns also have public swimming pools, both indoor and outdoor. Brittany is known for its beautiful walking country, and whether you head inland to enjoy the greenery and peace of the countryside, or stick to the wild and wonderful coastal paths you are bound to have the walking holiday of a lifetime.
If you like air travel the airport at Dinard is a perfect arrival point as it's within a very short drive of Lanvallay. The airport is served by Ryanair and Aurigny. Ferry fans can enjoy a trip across the channel to St Malo with the excellent Brittany Ferries. Drivers should follow the N176 motorway to the D794 where they will find Lanvallay waiting.
Dinan is so popular that prices around the town (and that includes Lanvallay) may be a little pricier than elsewhere in the Côtes-d'Armor. However, you will be pleasantly surprised when you look at the properties we currently (March 2012) have listed in Lanvallay. Several are only just over 100,000 Euros - now how's that for value!
