For buying and selling property in Le Gouray
Le Gouray is picturesque and has a lovely setting. What's more, it is conveniently close to all of the region's favourite attractions like the stunning coast, seaside resorts and the mediaeval town of Dinan. Le Gouray is an old village, and has a pleasingly traditional aspect. The houses are of typically Breton design and construction, with stone walls and slate roofs. There is a quite impressive church, and perhaps of even more interest, the "Bridge of Planks". This is an old railway bridge of unusual construction, which was built in 1925. It was built to allow the passage of a small train that ran through the area from 1926 to 1937.
Le Gouray has a handful of useful small shops and services. Among them you can find a bakery/patisserie and a general store, taking care of the basic food shopping needs. You can easily get to supermarkets in the nearby town of Lamballe. Le Gouray has a bar and a couple restaurants too, with many more just outside the village, easy to get to for lunches or evenings out.
The area around Le Gouray offers endless possibilities to get involved in sports and leisure activities. The seaside, of course, has swimming, sand yachting, sailing, surfing and beach sports, but you can also enjoy sailing, swimming and fishing inland thanks to great leisure lakes such as Jugon les Lacs. Golfers will find several courses in the department, and even more in the rest of the region, most of which are near enough to be played as a day trip. The peaceful countryside and gentle rolling terrain is also ideal for walkers, cyclists and horse-riders.
Places to visit include the gorgeous mediaeval town of Dinan, with its half-timbered houses, river port and numerous quaint shops and restaurants. The old fortifications give the town a really special atmosphere. It is a must see! St Malo is another great place to visit, having a rich heritage in addition to great shopping and beaches. Jugon les Lacs is only about twenty kilometres from Le Gouray, and is perfect for family days out. You can sail, swim, fish, or simply enjoy the great walking and cycling around the beautiful lake.
Flying to the area is easy, thanks to the direct flights from the UK to the little airport at Dinard. Rennes airport is another option. St Malo, served by Brittany Ferries, is the nearest ferry port, but you could also choose to arrive at Caen or Cherbourg. Finally, if you are driving, you can find Le Gouray very close to the D792, near the N12 motorway.
Brittany has become fairly expensive in certain parts, due to a surge in popularity with overseas and home nation buyers. However, 2012 has seen a return to more sensible pricing, even in popular departments such as the Côtes-d'Armor. Inland villages like Le Gouray offer even more chances to find bargain properties, as inland locations are cheaper than coastal locations. So if you are seeking a property in Brittany this year, have a look at Le Gouray. We've got properties on our books in Le Gouray from just 50,300 Euros up to 472,500 Euros, so whatever your budget there should be something to suit!
